A Halfsies streak counts the days in a row you finish the daily, the day resets at midnight UTC, and if you miss one day a streak shield bridges it once per week (twice for Gold riders), so the streak keeps going when you play the next day.
Three cuts a day keeps the streak alive. Here is exactly how the counter decides.
A streak in Halfsies is simple on the surface. Finish the daily, the number goes up by one. Skip a day, and it might reset. The details are where people lose a 20-day run without knowing why, so here is the whole rule set, taken straight from how the game counts.
A streak day is any day you finish all three cuts of that day's daily. That is it. Your score does not matter. A 140 counts the same as a 290.
These do not count:
If the app closes in the middle of a run, your finished cuts are saved and you pick up at the next one. The streak only ticks when the third cut is weighed.
Halfsies runs on one clock for the whole world. Everyone gets the same three objects, and the day rolls over at midnight UTC, not at your local midnight. For most of the Americas, that means the deadline is in the evening.
| Where you are | New day starts (November) |
|---|---|
| Los Angeles | 4:00 pm |
| Denver | 5:00 pm |
| Chicago | 6:00 pm |
| New York | 7:00 pm |
| London | midnight |
| Berlin | 1:00 am |
| Tokyo | 9:00 am |
| Sydney | 11:00 am |
These are standard-time hours. In US summer time, add one hour to the American rows. So a New York player who plays at 8 pm in November is already on the next day's puzzle. If you played that morning too, both count, and the streak goes up twice.
The shield is the part most people do not know about. If you miss exactly one day, the next daily you finish can bridge the gap.
Free players get one shield per week. Halfsies Gold riders get two. The shield week is a fixed block that runs Tuesday to Monday UTC, not a rolling seven days. So if you use your shield on a Monday, a fresh one is ready the very next day.
One quirk: on the day after a miss, the streak counter can look empty until you play. That is normal. The streak is waiting on you, and finishing the daily brings it back with the shield.
Three streak lengths get a name. You see it at the end of the run and on the share text you paste into a group chat.
| Streak | Name | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| 3 days | Three-Day Streak | Brass Frame |
| 7 days | Seven-Day Iron Streak | Sheriff Badge and the Crimson Bowie blade |
| 14 days | (no name) | White Ten-Gallon hat |
| 30 days | Thirty-Day Iron Streak | Red Cavalier hat |
Every further 7 days pays another Sheriff Badge, so a 21-day streak holds three. The full list of hats, frames and blades is in our rewards guide.
If a streak breaks, you keep everything it already won. The counter resets, the collection does not.
On the iPhone and Android apps, if you allow notifications, Halfsies sends a daily nudge at 11 am local time. If you have a streak of 2 or more and have not played yet, it also pings you 2 hours before the UTC deadline with the number of days on the line. The browser version at /play/ does not send notifications, so set your own alarm if that is where you play.
No. Any finished daily counts, whatever the score. Only finishing all three cuts matters.
Midnight UTC every day. That is 7 pm in New York and 4 pm in Los Angeles during standard time.
One per week for free players and two for Halfsies Gold riders. The week runs Tuesday to Monday UTC.
No. A shield bridges a single missed day. Miss two days back to back and the streak starts over at 1.
No. Rewards you have already earned stay in your collection. Only the streak counter resets.
Today's three cuts are waiting. You can play Halfsies in your browser right now, or get the free app from the homepage.
